Tatted Balloon

I had fun creating this little design. Wouldn’t a bouquet of these be fun on a card or a baby’s shirt?

This is a beginner pattern and requires one shuttle. The balloon is about 1 inch (2.5mm) in diameter when done with size 20 thread.

I used Lizbeth size 20 thread in in Lizbeth Caribbean Color 122.

R: 2ds j to last p of previous R, (2ds p) 3 times, 2ds j to first p of first R, 2ds, close, turn
Ch: 2ds p 2ds, cut and tie.

Row 2

Pass the ball thread through the center picot of the first R from the back of the work to the front. Tie to your shuttle and wind the shuttle a few times. I’m not sure how this is done if you are using a needle.
Ch: 8ds lj to center p of next R, 12ds lj to center p of next R, 14ds lj to center p of next R
Ch: 14ds lj to center p of next R, 12ds lj to center p of next R, 8ds lj to center p of next R
Ch: 5ds p 5ds, cut and tie.

Balloon string

Hide the thread end under the first few stitches of this ring as you stitch.
R: 3ds j to p on last Ch of round 2, 3ds, close.
Cut the thread a few inches away from the ring to form the balloon’s string.
